Situated in Lisse, Holland in the Netherlands, Keukenhof is one of the most magnificent flower parks in the world. Since 1950, the public has been invited to visit the estate between March and May, when 7 million bulbs burst into a swirling sea of rainbow colored blooms that stretch across 80 acres of land. Keukenhof is most famous for its majestic tulip fields which showcase over 800 different varieties of the Dutch flower. Along with the outdoor activities and tours, the park also hosts two dozen flower shows where growers show off the latest in floracultural finery. This year, one event that really piqued our interest is the Orchid Show, where designers Ronald Kolk, Philip Treacy, Jan Jansen, Janne Kyttanen, and Maria Marcus contributed pieces for a special exhibit where flora and fashion collide spectacularly. Take a peek at Kolk’s diaphanous dip-dyed gowns with lush orchid trimmings and Treacy’s colorful, blooming chapeaus.
Keukenhof is open through May 16th.
