Asymmetrical shapes and a focus on menswear are the main sartorial themes driving Carven’s pre-fall collection. Of the former, there are angled hemlines on dresses and blouses, askew coat pockets, skirts and shorts in bias-cut wool whose plaid is not quite centered. When it comes to masculine touches, look to the tailored walking shorts and a schoolboy suit in one of this season’s trending fabrics, corduroy. Carven also winks at old school technology — a sweatshirt is screened with a vintage TV set while a cassette tape print shows up on a skirt. A majority of the looks were styled with these dynamite boots, which are notable for their flattering, wider-fit and chunky, inverted heel which plays along with the entire collection’s off-kilter feeling.
