autumn ’12 ~ wolverine x samantha pleet

July 22, 2012 in she's got the look

This fall, Wolverine is styling out its 1000 Mile subsidiary with new designs by eco-friendly favorite, Samantha Pleet. The collaboration mixes Wolverine’s deeply rooted American heritage — the company dates back to 1883 — with Samantha’s penchant for digging into history for fashion inspiration. Adventurous heroines, including Amelia Earhart and Karen Blixen, became muses for this collection, which features boots and oxfords that have all the flourishes of antique footwear but with an unmistakably modern edge (plus, you won’t have to worry about them falling apart as vintage shoes are wont to do).

The lookbook alone is worth a peak. Mariah Kunkel of the blog Quite Continental styled it with tomboy-ish perfection, pairing the shoes with not only looks from Samantha’s A/W “New Romantic” collection but also mixing vintage pieces. The execution is a flawless lesson on how to mix a little old with a bit of new without looking like you’re trying too hard.
