adidas x jeremy scott x nabil

July 18, 2012 in sharp-dressed men, she's got the look, stop look & listen

A little while back, I raved about this crazy insane Jeremy Scott for Adidas clip. Entitled “Jump”, it was born from the imagination of photographer and music video director, Nabil Elderkin. The clip was from 2009 so yeah, I was a bit late to that party but it was so boss, I had to share it with anyone who had an internet connection. So when I spotted this latest video roll through my newsfeed, I was very excited to see that Jeremy, Adidas and Nabil teamed up yet again.

Adidas describes its Fall/ Winter 2012 collaboration with Jeremy as “Playing with elements from nature and technology while wrapping everything up in a ’90s inspired look.” However, I’m also feeling some 80′s vibes going on. From the synth-heavy track (“OMG” by Jonny Makeup) to flashing video game fonts and Lisa Frank-like visuals, it looks like one of my old stickers books come to life. Dip-dyed mannequin, and Jeremy Scott muse, Charlotte Free is again featured front and center in this madcap clip which features all of the playful, eye-popping elements of its predescessor: animated graphics intertwined with models gleefully bouncing on an unseen trampoline wearing the hyper-color throwback threads. It’s a bit difficult to make out the actual clothing as it all seems to blend like camouflage into the backgrounds, but that’s probably the point.

Nevertheless, the video reminds me of this one for Neneh Cherry’s “Buffalo Stance”, one of my all time favorites.

And also, “Pump Up the Jam” from Technotronic.
