The product description under this splatter painted dress from Two String Jane reads, “reminiscent of bright colorful galaxies”. And while I can see that, the first thing I thought was liquid hot magma because the style immediately recalled those super close-up shots of erupting volcanos, the kind you see National Geographic (I also see those spacey liquid crystal stickers from the 1980′s, you know, those bizzaro stickers you pressed and would be all hypnotically mushy.)
No matter what these hand-dyed design remind you of, it’s pretty safe to say that they are all supremely fly and a more upscale departure from your average tie-dye. Besides the rainbow splattered pieces, Alyssa Zukas, the designer behind Two String Jane, has also whipped up some cheeky screen-printed t-shirts, sweatshirts and hoodies (that striped “Bonjour” pullover is calling my name). When you’re done shopping, check out her blog where she waxes nostalgic on mid-century modern knick knacks and home decor (she’s a bonafied expert on artist Walter Bosse). And some of those little tchotckes are available for sale in her Etsy store. Rejoice!
