First Donna Summer, now Robin Gibb. If she was the Queen of Disco, the Bee Gees were certainly the Kings, and as relevant to the history of dance music as she was. This is actually remarkable considering the Bee Gees were a band who had initially made a name for themselves as pop music balladeers in the late 1960′s but were practically has-beens by 1973.
Anyway, I am seriously running out of words to say at this point, so instead, here is the ultimate Bee Gees song, “Jive Talkin’” (“ultimate” = my favorite). That dirty, scratchy bass line is sick and I dare you not to get your groove while listening to this.
