the mod father of hair: vidal sasson

May 10, 2012 in stop look & listen

With a few snip of the shears back in the 1960′s, Vidal Sassoon changed the way women wore their hair. From Mary Quant’s youthquaking mod bob to the fragile pixie worn by Mia Farrow in Rosemary’s Baby , Vidal’s vision of a world devoid of fussy updos, hair curlers and too much hairspray became the way to be.

Later in his career, this commercial, with a tagline that became as iconic as any of his haircuts, will forever be my initial impression of the genius that is Sassoon.

Check out the intriguing documentary, Vidal Sassoon: The Movie, streaming right now on Netflix.
